You must be new to One Piece. You can probably count on 1 hand the number of characters that die (not counting flashbacks).

Although I'm sure by now you've gotten far enough in the story that you've seen that for yourself

Again, excluding flashbacks there are very few characters that actually die, whether they're good or bad. I stopped watching pretty early on in the current arc (excluding the name since it could be a minor spoiler), and I still can't think of more than a handful of characters who die in the show.

Spoilers, don't look at this unless you want to have future (or possibly past? I don't remember exactly where this episode is in the story) events spoiled.

The only characters I can think of who died prior to the current arc are Ace, Whitebeard, Merry (if you want to count the ship as a character), Pedro, Monet, and Vergo.

I guess it's cause those clouds are formed from some particles which are part of sea prism stone i don't remember correctly but pagaya mentioned them a few eps back so maybe that's why he can't cut them. Sea prism stone is the hardest substance in the OP-verse even harder than diamond!
